7 easy steps to successful submission with social submitter.

Let’s review some common situations that can lead to Submission error message.

 1. Pre-moderation and submission delays.

Several sites require quite a lot of time to check your submission, accept and display it. So it may take up to several minutes for your post to appear at the resource (this is true for www.indianpad.com www.pluggos.com www.uan.me www.fuzz.fr www.linksmarker.com and others).

By default Social Submitter waits only for 60 seconds until the connection times out and you get submission error. In order to avoid this problem try increasing Connection Timeout period in Crawl&Submit tab of Tools/Options menu. You should also do this in case your Internet connection is unstable or slow.

Nevertheless, this will not help if site admins have enabled premoderation of all posts, because in this case you will have to wait way much longer to get your post accepted.

 2. Carma and reputation

Most of PLIGG-powered sites measure your reputation at the resource (also called Carma). The higher it is, the better, because if it reaches a certain threshold (usually 0), your post will not be published.

Carma ratio in user personal profile

You can increase your carma by publishing interesting information (and having users vote for it), by voting for other’s posts and leaving comments. So in order to keep your reputation high, consider commenting popular news and voting for them once in a while.

If you don’t want to mess with the all the voting and commenting, just go to your favorite RSS feed and copy-paste some interesting news to the target social site (in case this hasn’t been prohibited for you already).

It’s highly likely people will  vote for your post and leave comments, which will automatically increase your carma. Vivid examples of reputation-based sites are www.pixelgroovy.com www.hipootecas.com

 3. Human like avatar or userpic

Several sites (e.g. www.sphinn.com ) don’t let you post until you fill in your profile details or upload your userpic. So be sure you check this before submission process.

4. Avoid duplicated articles

Most of social networking resources don’t allow posting duplicated articles. The site usually checks URL of your submission and warns you in case it already exists in its database. To avoid this try submitting another post or just find a different source URL.

 5.  Completely Automated Public Turing test to tell Computers and Humans Apart (CAPTCHA )

Some sites use Captcha (picture with random combination of letters and digits, allowing the system to understand that you’re not a mail bot). Social Submitter displays a pencil icon near the site URL in case Captcha entry is required.

If you input the captcha incorrectly, your post will not be published, because you will be considered to be a spam bot rather than a human. Captcha is used by most social sites. For example www.digg.com

 6. Prepare valid descriptions for your article

Your post may also be rejected in case you haven’t properly fulfilled your Submission Title, or Submissin Text, or Tags fields. Several sites limit Title, Text ant Tags length (usually Title no more than 120 symbols, Text no more than 150 and Tags – 40-60 symbols).

Your post may be rejected if there’s no point in the end of the text. Or if it is shorter than 100 sybmols (www.socbo.de ).
Starting from version 2.0.0.0 Social Submitter allows you to create “Small” and “Large” versions of your post with different length of Title, Text and Tags fields. Social Submitter will automatically select the necessary version during submission process according to the settings of each site.

If you don’t want to bother creating several versions of your post, Social Submitter will automatically crop your post, in order to fit in the site limitations.

General rules, for your post to be accepted by most social networking sites are as follows: Title size between 50 and 120 symbols including point mark in the end, text size between 50 and 150 symbols including punctuation mark (point, question or exclamation sign) in the end. Also be sure you have included at least one tag.

7. Social submitter is not a SPAM tool.

Also keep in mind that some sites allow submitting posts once in 12 hours (e.g. www.vesti24.eu www.memeza.com ), some other sites have pre-moderation or some kind of SPAM filters (e.g. www.klickts.de ). Try to avoid falling to spam anyway.
